Recipe of the Week

Easy Fried Rice


• 4 cups mostly cooked long grain rice

• 1 bag frozen peas and carrots (or frozen vegetables of choice)

• 1/4 cup soy sauce

• 1 tbsp ginger powder

• 1 tbsp garlic powder

• 1 tbsp onion powder

• 2 large eggs

• 1/2 pound crispy bacon pieces


• cook 4 cups long grain rice to almost done, still hard in the middle

• in large frying pan fry bacon pieces until crispy, remove bacon leaving fat in pan

• add rice and heat and stir for 1 minute

• make a space in center of rice, add frozen vegetables

• sprinkle rice and vegetables with soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and onion

• fold rice over vegetables, heat for 2 minutes

• stir rice and vegetables together well, push to side of pan

• scramble eggs and pour into space on pan, cook until soft scrambled

• mix eggs into rice and vegetables

• add bacon and mix well, heat for 2 minutes

• remove from heat and serve

• Serves 6 to 8, or great left overs for lunches

FLEX classes are small, welcoming and led by enthusiastic instructors. Instructors even include their personal contact info in the class locator so students can really get to know them. And of course our FLEX instructors are all certified.


One of the hottest trends in fitness is taking workouts beyond the gym. SilverSneakers FLEX® celebrates this trend with group classes offered outside of traditional gym locations. FLEX classes may be held at recreation centers, retirement communities, pools, parks and other local venues.

All of the classes are conducted by certified instructors and, so far, more than 70 types of classes are included in SilverSneakers FLEX. They range from tai chi to boot camp and Latin dance to yoga. Class locations and types are always expanding and we love getting your ideas for new ones. The possibilities are nearly endless. Getting fit and having fun in your neighborhood: What's not to like?


Dancing Gaia: The Nature of Movement & Meditation

Jennifer is an ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor and Silver Sneakers Flex instructor and has been instructing group fitness classes for over four years.

Each class begins with deep breathing, energy building, and gentle stretching warm-ups. Class continues with a unique blend of Tai Chi, Yoga, Qigong, and Tae Kwon Do style movements. Then we finish each class with a slow and gentle cool down and seated hand posture practice. These classes are for anyone that wants to get fit without hurting themselves. 

Dancing Gaia offers seated versions for those who are less capable.
