I. Main direction of studying

The development of Internet of Things technology relies on technical support systems such as communications, computing, control, sensing, and digital sea (C3SD). The school of Internet of Things Engineering of Jiangnan University relies on its existing professional and faculty teams. The research directions related to the Internet of Things technology include:

1. Basic theory and technology of the Internet of Things

This research direction mainly includes the theory of digital physics system, IoT communication protocol and node technology, sensor network architecture, deployment and performance evaluation, information security and privacy, access technology with the Internet, quality service of sensor networks, and multi-sensor information fusion, etc.

2. Internet of Things data management and middleware technology

This research direction mainly includes mass data processing and analysis technologies, data storage, query, mining, analysis and fusion technologies; middleware technologies; software development, testing and evaluation technologies for the Internet of Things, etc.

3. Internet of Things core electronic devices and circuit design

This research direction mainly includes the design and implementation of digital, analog, and RF mixed-signal integrated circuits for system-integrated chips; the development of the related core electronic devices and chip development and integration, etc.

4. Electrical automation and remote monitoring

This research direction mainly includes the distributed large capacity data acquisition and monitoring system based on wireless sensor network; low-voltage electrical faults, intelligent early warning of electrical equipment safety and maintenance, diagnosis and decision-making system; electric power overhaul and inspection intelligent network based on RFID technology; motor nonlinear control theory and methods; new energy transformation and control technologies; information management for small and medium-sized enterprises, etc.

5. Industrial sensing and control

This research direction mainly includes on-line measurement of industrial production process, and the theory and application research of real-time control system theory; distributed sensing and execution unit and system based on wireless network and line field bus; biochemical sensor development; remote monitoring and diagnostic technology; online PAT and application Wait, etc.

6. Intelligent systems and network computing

This research direction mainly includes computer vision, virtual reality; embedded systems, visual and intelligent recognition hardware platforms, key algorithms of embedded machine vision; theory and application of group intelligent computing; control theory and biochemical process control based on computational intelligence; fuzzy artificial intelligence, image processing and pattern recognition study, etc.

7. Internet of Things technology engineering application

This direction mainly targets at the needs of IoT applications in different areas to develop demonstration projects and product development and industrialization promotion. It focuses on the development and promotion of grain depot sensor network monitoring system, smart home system, supermarket shopping guide system, RFID-based company personnel safety positioning and tracking system; the energy monitoring and digital monitoring technology application and promotion in campus, life and work area; food logistics sense network monitoring technology and food and environment quality and safety testing technology; animal sound defense digital products and technologies; wireless digital agriculture and application engineering; and intelligent transportation systems, etc.

II. Major research achievements

The School of Internet of Things Engineering currently spends more than 30 million yuan per year on scientific research, and has won more than 30 national and provincial vertical projects such as the national "863 Program", national scientific and technological research, and the National Natural Science Foundation. It has applied to almost 100 patents and software copyrights per year and publicized more than 500 high-level academic papers per year. In the R&D of IoT engineering application technology, demonstration projects such as “Perceived energy consumption and digital campus” have been established. The demonstration project independently developed “perceived energy consumption and digital campus” demonstration system based on industrial real-time WEB service (Comet), field device monitoring configuration (IRS), OPC service/client (OPC), customizable report service (RPS), secure portal service (SSO) and GIS geography information service (WMS). According to the design principles of “Clear energy consumption, visible data, digital management, graphical analysis, indexing hydropower, and rational consumption”, a high starting point digital conservation campus supervision system was completed, including: campus electricity metering management system, campus water supply network monitoring system, campus street light intelligent management system, internet prepaid water and electricity management system, and energy-saving supervision and comprehensive analysis system. The system has been spread and applied in many universities in China. It is currently developing a digital network system that senses the entire campus.
